Scenarios of May 15th

What will happen on May 15th, which is the date of relocating the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, is almost expected by Palestinians, especially those living in Gaza who have been marching since six weeks. There will be two scenarios; the first one would start with high tensions on Gaza-Israeli borders, which would then turn into a new war on Gaza. This could happen since those residing in Gaza have been under a sever siege since 2006, and they are ready to do anything to have their situations changed.

However, Israel and Gaza parties are not ready for a war yet for several reasons. For Israel, it’s now busy with Iran’s threats and the nuclear deal. For Hamas and other parties, they know Gaza residents would not bear a new battle.

The second scenario, which Palestinians prefer, would start with international conferences to try to lift Gaza siege and to solve its crises, starting from electricity problem to travelling issue.

This scenario would be preferably for Israel as well since Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Yoav Mordechai, got a infrastructure plan worth $1b, which includes desalination plants and a gas pipeline in Gaza.

Nevertheless, Palestinians are still angry and furious at the US after its decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem. The question is, how could the US stop the anger of Palestinians?
